I am an expert at working with toddlers. I worked as a nanny for a number of years, mainly with toddlers, and although I have always had a knack for playing with and engaging toddlers, I have really refined my skills throughout the years. I use positive reinforcement to reinforce things they do correctly/well, and ignore a lot of negative behaviors. I incorporate gross motor and fine motor activities, as well as social skills, beginning math skills, and early literacy foundations into play. I encourage music and movement and dance like a fool. I believe that I am an expert because I am comfortable with what I do, it comes naturally and easily, and I enjoy watching young children develop and grow. Now that my friends have young children, they come to me for advice when they hit a trouble spot, and I provide suggestions and remind them that it is "just a phase". I hope to use this knowledge or skill in the future with my own child(ren).

*I actually strongly considered pursuing early childhood education because I consider myself to be an expert with young children. I was concerned that eventually I would get bored working in the field and went in the secondary English direction. I have never once second guessed that decision.
